The issue is not ambition. According to a survey by The A Effect and The Globe and Mail, 80% of women see themselves as ambitious. The real challenge lies in progression.

To understand what is driving, and hindering, progression inside organizations, The A Effect convened 16 influential women leaders in Toronto for a candid conversation led by Julie Barker-Merz, Advisor and Growth Strategist. Representing finance, professional services, media, law, retail, insurance and corporate leadership, they explored where progress is happening, where it continues to stall, and which interventions are making a meaningful difference.
Produced in collaboration with The Brand is Female, an organization dedicated to advancing women’s leadership in business, this report draws on the insights from the roundtable to present interconnected organizational levers for turning women’s ambition into meaningful, measurable progression.

The Progression Advantage offers a strategic look at a challenge organizations can no longer treat as a side initiative. Drawing on a decade of insights and field-based data from Canadian leaders, this report shows how parity strengthens decision-making, resilience, innovation, and sustainable growth.
